Laptops — By Ricky on February 3, 2010 at 12:02 amThumbs Up:
Large Screen having compact width of 16” with 1.3MP Camera and very comfortable keyboard.
Thumbs Down:
The laptop does not have main Core 2 Duo processor like other mainstream laptops. There is no Express Card, Bluetooth and HDMI. The battery life is mediocre.
The Whiz Kid Speaks:
This Asus notebook is powered by Intel Pentium Dual-Core (T4300/2.1GHz) processor which has a data-bus speed of 800 MHz. The motherboard chipset is Mobile Intel GM45 Express with 1MB L2 Cache Memory and includes inbuilt graphics card Intel GMA 4500MHD. This Asus Notebook has a 4GB DDR2 SD RAM which is expandable up to 8GB. The hard disk is Serial ATA type having storage capacity of 320GB. 3 in 1 Card Reader can read Memory Stick, Multimedia card and SD memory card. Its 16” TFT screen has a resolution of 1366X768 (WXGA) with LED-backlit and DVD±RW(±R DL) Optical Drive.
K60IJ has inbuilt Wireless LAN Card/Antenna to support IEEE 802.11g/b/n standards and also uses the data link protocol of Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet with a standard inbuilt Network Adapter. This feature provides us the great support to create wireless and wired network of desktop and laptops.
Asus K60IJ has a 1.3 Mega Pixel integrated Camera which is a great feature and not found in other laptops of this range. With Camera, Facial Recognition is there for security and log on. The notebook has a 6 Cell Lithium ion battery.
This EPA Energy Star Qualified notebook has built in Operating System is Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit Edition. Bundled software includes Drivers & utilities, Cyberlink Power2Go, Adobe Reader 9.0 and 60 days trial of Microsoft Office 2007. The notebook has a limited 1 year warranty.
Razzle Dazzle:
The Outer shell of the Asus K60IJ has a design similar to previous Asus EE PC Notebooks. It has glossy plastic finish with smooth lines. Our test model for Asus Notebook has a Midnight blue color which gives a good look but laptop is compact and thick.
Inside Dope:
The ASUS K60IJ powered by dual core processor with Mobile Intel Chipset costs $499 making a good and affordable deal for the users looking for great performance. So does it really suite you?

Yes, it does not have the Core 2 Duo processor but the Dual Core is far better than other Intel Atom, Intel Celeron and AMD Semptron processor. Also, if you are looking for large screen with comfortable typing and Camera then we recommend this laptop for you.
The Mobile Intel Chipset makes the notebook to respond faster. We found it capable for handling games and heavy software like Photoshop, Apple iTunes, Zune etc. Having good performance, one will not be annoyed while working on it. After setting up the virtual memory in the computer properties and a corresponding restart, the notebook works at its full speed.
The keyboard has flat concave buttons which makes typing comfortable. The touchpad is large with 2 separate mouse buttons which are easy to press but the touch pad has a little bit glossy surface. In this model, the Asus does not give multimedia keys like Play, Stop, Pause etc. but it has dedicated keys (like Home, Page Down/Up etc.), power button and Function Combination keys.
The 16 inch display is large and glossy having resolution of 1366X768 pixels but the laptop does not have Full HD 1080p resolution. The notebook also comprises of High Definition Audio Sound Card. The speaker set of Altec Lansing speakers is situated in the bottom front of the laptop base gives a better and loud sound.
The K601J 4XHi Speed USB interface having 4 Pin USB Type A with 1XNetwork-Ethernet 10 Base-T/100,TX/1000, T-RJ 45. HDMI is not present which is very surprising.
The features of this laptop makes it to fit in the middle range users who wants something better than Atom and Celeron but not costly as Core 2 Duo, Quad Core or AMD Athlon.
Our test depicts that the Intel Processor can easily handle basic tasks, flash video streaming and better multitasking. Alternative for this would be Gateway NV7802u for $100 more
At the power backup, the Asus K60IJ did not match very good battery life like other models of Asus. The 6 cell battery, it ran for 3 hours 30 minutes while playing videos. We expected some better power backup situation from Asus because the Toshiba A505-S6980 has double battery life than this one.
Asus has modified the support website for easy use in previous years. The web chat and e-mail support are also available with a Toll Free number for tech support from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6PM PST.
Nitty Gritty:
Asus K60IJ is a good and affordable deal for end users with large screen, comfortable typing keyboard, 1.3 Mega Pixel camera and installed Windows 7.

I always go with brand and then features. Asus is a good brand in laptops and I’m sure there will be some reason of not including various configuration in it.
Laptops and desktops, there is no point in getting the latest or high configuration because everyday something or other new software comes up which is better than your latest one.
Asus phones are also awesome.I have 1 and I’m loving it. Overall its really good in electronics, one can trust on it.
Other than its processor and other feature this laptop is really good and affordable.
Bluetooth and HDMi are not that important for laptop. It can be worked without as well. Mostly every people has a USB handy with them.
16inch screen for $500 that is really cheap. Anyone will sacrifice its latest process and bluetooth for it.
People always points what is not good and will ignore the good part. It has got 1.3 mp camera, 320 Gb , 4gb ram, only for 500 bucks!
