Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is a high-end smartphone that offers larger battery life and dual core processor, which keeps phone running smoothly. Despite beefed-up battery life, it is crafted in attractive and slim design, which is designed for withstanding occasional drop, liquid spill and scratch. It features gorgeous 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen, fast Verizon LTE/4G data and dual core 1.2GHz processor like its predecessor while retaining tight security features and powerful multimedia chops. At 8.99mm, it is sleeker as compared to other handsets in the market and packs more battery, too. Seriously sleek, the Droid Razr Maxx is exact opposite of frail. It is made strong with DuPont KEVLAR fiber, while Corning Gorilla Glass defends the display against scrapes and scratches. A force field of water-repellent nanoparticles shields the handset against water attacks and even the electrical boards inside.

The free MotoCast application from the company allows Motorola Droid Razr Maxx to stream your documents, apicultures and music (including Windows Media Player and iTunes playlists) from your home and work computers, virtually anytime, anywhere. No uploading to third party means no wasted time, and everything stays protected, right on your computer. The 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Advanced screen found on this smartphone dishes cutting edge visuals and broader range of hyper vibrant colors as compared to LCD high definition televisions. Providing higher resolution as compared to Super AMOLED Plus screens, you get incredible detail in your pictures, applications and videos.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx proves that a powerful Android smartphone can remain sleek and still provide marathon worthy battery life. The company ups the Android ante with this smartphone. Not only does this handset come equipped with exceptional features, which graced original Droid Razr, the company has thrown in energy dense 2200mAh battery. It measures 5.14 inches high, 0.35 inch thick and 2.75 inches wide and weighs 5.1 ounces, making it a heavier and slightly thicker as compared to previous model. Like original Droid Razr, the Maxx features Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system with Motoblur interface. You will find 5 customizable home screen to select from with more shortcuts to phone dialer, main menu, messaging and camera running along the bottom.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx’s lock screen shows usual digital clock, battery info and date. It allows you to toggle ringer/vibrate function and jump straight to camera application. Those who like the virtual keyboard of original Razr will find the same responsiveness, well spaced keys and light haptic feedback here. The Droid Razr Maxx offers plenty of Android capabilities, which include GPS, mobile hotspot capability, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. Some of the Google services and applications include Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Latitude, Google Search with Voice, Places, Google Maps with Navigation and Google Books. Organizer and phone functions include calendar, speakerphone, alarm, voice command support, clock, task list, calculator and file manager.

Other apps preinstalled on Motorola Droid Razr Maxx include healthy helping of paid and free services and software, including Blockbuster, Amazon’s Kindle app, Madden NFL 12, Let’s Golf 2, Slacker Radio, Netflix, VideoSurf and MotoPrint,. Of course Verizon added some of its own applications such as Verizon Instant Messenger, Device Setup, NFL Mobile, My Verizon Mobile, Verizon Video, V Cast Tones, Visual Voicemail and VZ Navigator. Honestly the most helpful of the lot is My Verizon Data widget that lives by default on home screen and estimates your data usage for avoiding being slammed or throttled with additional fees.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx gets Quickoffice application that allows you to edit and create office documents; portable PC experience, which Webtop offers and GoToMeeting video conference application of Citrix. Plenty of Motorola Android phones feature its Webtop app, and Droid Razr Maxx continues the tradition. Just attach it to compatible accessories such as Lapdock 500 Pro (14-inch screen), HD Station or Lapdock 100 (10-inch screen), and Webtop platform fires up automatically. The Lapdocks come with touchpad and keyboard, but you will have to contribute your own input devices if using something like HD Station.

Apart from third-party applications including Slacker Radio, the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx has same robust Music application, which is much more capable as compared to stock Android software. Identical to Droid Bionic, the application has Music Store courtesy of Verizon Wireless, support for podcast subscription and playback and Internet radio functions. You can also use this application for streaming music from your home server through MotoCast. The Droid Razr Maxx gets 16GB of internal storage space along with preloaded 16GB microSD card. It can support cards up to 32GB and can handle files such as AAC+ AAC+ enhanced, AAC, AMR WB, AMR NB, MP3, MIDI, WMA v10, WMA v9 and WAV formats.

A, up to 3.1 Mbps, LTE; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot; 8.0-megapixel camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, Touch-focus, geotagging, face detection and image stabilization; Android OS, v2.3.5 (Gingerbread), upgradeable to v4.0.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx is also equipped with Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9; GPU: PowerVR SGX540; GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS; Active noise cancellation with dedicated microphone; Splash resistant; HDMI port; SNS integration; Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk and Picasa integration; MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA player; MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player; Document viewer/editor; Voice memo/dial/commands; Predictive text input (Swype); Phonebook: Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID and Ring ID; Organizer: Calendar (calendar entries), Alarm (alarm entries), To-Do (to-do entries), Document viewer and Calculator; Messaging: SMS, MMS, Threaded view, Predictive text input; E-mail: IMAP, POP3, SMTP, Microsoft Exchange; USB: USB 2.0, Connector: microUSB and Features: Mass storage device, USB charging.

The Motorola Droid Razr Maxx adds Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Flight mode, Silent mode, Speakerphone; Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass, Barometer, Voice dialing, Voice commands and Voice recording; Bluetooth 4.0 Profiles: Audio/Visual Remote Control Profile (AVRCP), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Basic Printing (BPP), Basic Imaging (BIP), File Transfer (FTP), Dial-up networking (DUN), Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP), Generic Access (GAP), Handsfree (HFP), Generic Object Exchange (GOEP), Human Interface Device (HID), Headset (HSP), Personal Area Networking Profile (PAN), Object Push (OPP), Serial Port (SPP) and Phone Book Access (PBAP).

PCD Wrangler is a rugged and tough cellphones, which plays and works as hard as you do. Its rugged chassis isn’t fazed by dirt, drops, rain or water. The company clamshell design has been tested for withstanding rain, sand, dust, high humidity or extreme temperatures. Its lack of trendy smartphone features and poor call quality give this tough flip handset a glass jaw. PCD designed the Wrangler, an IP67-certified handset for withstanding litany of harsh treatment. It’s been ages since we have seen the cellphone with clamshell design, probably not since Motorola Razr and many copycats it spawned. The macho name of Wrangler isn’t the only clue to the rugged construction; its chassis with black rubberized exterior is crisscrossed by oversize screws, mean looking ridges and tire-tread patterns.

The PCD Wrangler measures 3.8 inch tall, 0.6 inch deep and 1.9 inches wide, and its substantial exterior doesn’t result in overly bloated size. One of the extensive features found in this model is the 2.2 inch QVGA display that boasts 240 x 320 pixel resolution. Some of the phone controls include buttons for camera, end, cancel and send along with software keys. The Easyedge and volume keys are situated on the left hand side of the device, while the speakerphone and voice command functions on the right. At the back, you will find a 1.3 megapixel camera, which offers same sharpness like usual front facing camera of smartphones. The 3.5mm headphone jack with microUSB port sit behind thick rubber flap reinforced with watertight stoppers.

Standard features on PCD Wrangler include Numeric keypad, Soft keys; Water (Splash), Dust, Shock, Temperature proof; 2.2 inch Color OLED display with Scratch-resistant glass; Messaging: SMS, MMS, Predictive text input; Bluetooth; Notifications: Speakerphone and Voice recording and Accessories: Standard Battery, USB/Wall Charger, USB Cable, Headset, User Manual. The rated battery life of Wrangler is 8.3 days in standby mode and 4 hours in talktime mode.

Casio G’zone Ravine 2 is a high end phone that delivers high performance in any weather, any place and in roughest conditions, making it a device you can depend on for wide range of uses. It has durable build, which should withstand a lot of abuse. The navigation controls are easy to use and spacious, while call quality is admirable. Featuring distinctively tough personality, it is the first model in the lineup to provide international roaming. Ideal for everyday, outdoor sports and business use, this global handset is a perfect partner for your active lifestyle. Rugged case is shaped like a hood of race car with guard, which protects the device. Its characteristic G’zone design with circle display outlined in red, shows time, battery life, date, message arrival and other data. Its large red side key or PTT key enables Push to Talk using microphones situated on both inside and front surfaces.

The Casio G’zone Ravine 2 is resistant to immersion, rain, drop, dust, vibration, salt fog, humidity, solar radiation, low pressure, high temperature and low temperature. The G’zone Ravine 2 continues the company’s long tradition of ultra-rugged handsets with the benefit of enhanced call quality. It is available with the camera as well as without the shooter, which is the only difference between two models. If Casio’s handsets are known for anything, it is their extreme durability. Like Commando, G’zone Ravine 2 and other G’zone handsets, it should withstand about any physical conditions, while providing midrange feature set, including world roaming, push to talk functionality and 3G support. The image quality continues to be disappointing, while design is bulky, however call quality on Verizon Wireless is enhanced over earlier devices.

The Casio G’zone Ravine 2 measures 4.33 inches high, 0.83 inch deep and 1.99 inches wide and weighs 4.85 ounces. It offers unique looks like ribbed ring and hinge around external screen. The lack of rubber sidings is surprising, but has solid, comfortable feel, which inspires confidence. Casio promises that the device will be able to withstand immersion in water, shock, high and low temperatures, dust, humidity, salt fog and vibration. The 1.38 inch external LCD display shows usual information such as date, caller ID, time and signal strength. It is full color, though we would prefer to be able to access standard features while opening it.

The camera lens with flash is located at the back of Casio G’zone Ravine 2, while the back cover is secured by sliding lock. The microSD memory card slot is situated on the right hand side of the smartphone, while microUSB charging port just below it. The bright red shortcut/PTT key, voice command key and volume rocker button are on the left hand side, while 2.5mm headphone at the bottom. The internal 2.2 inch TFT display boasts 320 x 240 pixel resolution with fine looking graphics and standard menu designs and bright colors. You have typical set of tools such as banner, changing brightness, dialing font size, menu, backlight time and display wallpaper and theme. You will find a huge silver toggle with Central OK button, and surrounding it are camera control, two soft keys and combination shortcut for activating camera flash and speakerphone.

The Casio G’zone Ravine 2 gets typical End/Power and Talk buttons along with Clear key, which also opens GPS features with long press. It adds 1000 phonebook entry with additional 500 contacts. Basic features include messaging, notepad, voice dialing and commands, world clock, calculator, countdown timer calendar, stopwatch, Bluetooth and alarm clock. Like all midrange handsets, the Ravine 2 provides access to POP3 services (Yahoo, Gmail and Windows Live) and Microsoft Exchange accounts. The 3.2 megapixel camera captures photos in six different resolutions from 2048 x 1536 to 160 x 120 pixels with settings for brightness and white balance controls, multishot and night modes, digital zoom and five color effects.

Standard features on Casio G’zone Ravine 2 include Mode: Digital Dual Mode (CDMA, PCS) / 1x, EV-DO Rev. A, dual-band + GSM / GPRS quad-band; 3.2M AF Camera with LED flashlight / video recording capability; Rugged: Water, Dust, Shock, Vibration, Temperature proof; System memory: 256 MB RAM / 512 MB ROM; microSD, microSDHC 32 GB; video playback: MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, 3GP, 3G2; Organizer: Calendar, Alarm, Flashlight (Standalone unit), Lunar calendar; Messaging: SMS, MMS, Predictive text input (T9); Bluetooth 3.0 Profiles: Handsfree (HFP), Headset (HSP), Object Push (OPP), Dial-up networking (DUN), Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP), Basic Printing (BPP) and Phone Book Access (PBAP); Notifications: Polyphonic ringtones, Vibration, Silent mode and Sensors: Pedometer, Compass, Thermometer.

The estimated battery life of Casio G’zone Ravine 2 is 4.68 hours in talktime mode and 21.1 days in standby mode. Overall, it stands out from the cell phone crowd for its sturdy and ultradurable design.

HTC Wildfire S remains underpowered and builds on its popular predecessor, with its more alluring design and superior display. It is a beautifully designed Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone with plethora of additional software features and decent five-megapixel camera. The Wildfire S is developed and designed by HTC Corporation and was announced in the month of February 2011 at Mobile World Congress and revealed three months later in Europe. Powering the Wildfire S is a 600MHz Qualcomm processor with Android 2.3.5 operating system. It comes with TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen display and five-megapixel camera. It is considered to be an upgraded version of HTC Wildfire launched in the year 2010 with faster Bluetooth 3.0 support and newer Gingerbread version of Android operating system.

Surf the web in style with multi window browsing, flash video support and pinch to zoom functionality with auto text reflow of HTC Wildfire S. It allows you to take great images with five-megapixel camera with flash and tag your friends in pics and instantly post them to social networks. Explore plethora of applications on Android Market and send your favorite one to relatives. Zoom in on webpage and text changes size and reflows automatically to make it easier to read. Experience zero-wait, while zooming and zipping around your maps. In spite of its small stature, the Wildfire S is well designed and easy on the eye.

MetroPCS is another carrier to get the HTC Wildfire S, a stylish, petite and relatively less expensive Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone. It is already offered for United States Cellular and T-Mobile, the HTC Wildfire S is MetroPCS first handset ever. The all-white smartphone comes with 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, five-megapixel camera with LED flash and 600MHz processor. It is nicely designed and comes packed with plenty of features. Sadly, the slower 2.5G network holds it back, in terms of performance. Android 2.3 Gingerbread runs underneath the company’s custom interface called Sense. But you will surely enjoy the additional capabilities and graphical richness, which come with Sense from the way that skin organizes applications to access to system settings.

MetroPCS applications found on HTC Wildfire S include IM and social networking application, MetroPCS, Loopt’s social network, MetroPCS Easy Wi-Fi, M Studio, Metro 411 and Metro Navigator. There are some applications for extras, VC Pay, virtual payment card, myMetro, Rhapsody Music and Pocket Express. Standard features on Wildfire S include 2G Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; 3G Network: HSDPA 900 / 2100; 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with 256,000 colors and 320 x 480 pixels; Corning Gorilla Glass; HTC Sense 2.1 UI; Touch sensitive controls; Vibration, MP3, WAV ringtones; microSD, up to 32GB, 2GB included; 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM; GPRS Up to 114 kbps; EDGE Up to 560 kbps; HSDPA speeds up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA speeds up to 384 Kbps; Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot; 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus, 2592 x 1944 pixels, Geo-tagging, LED flash and face detection; Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread).

Also standard on HTC Wildfire S are Qualcomm MSM7227; 600 MHz ARM 11; Accelerometer, proximity, compass; SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM; Stereo FM radio with RDS; GPS with A-GPS support; SNS integration; Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Picasa integration; MP3/AAC+/WAV player; Xvid/MP4/H.264 player; Organizer; Voice memo; Predictive text input; Phonebook: Caller groups, Unlimited entries, Search by both first and last name, Multiple numbers per contact, Ring ID and Picture ID; Organizer: Alarm, Calendar, Calculator and Document viewer; Bluetooth 3.0 Profiles: Handsfree (HFP), Headset (HSP), Object Push (OPP), File Transfer (FTP), Phone Book Access (PBAP) and Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP); Notifications: Music ringtones (MP3), Haptic feedback, Vibration, Polyphonic ringtones, Silent mode, Flight mode and Speakerphone; Sensors: Compass, Accelerometer, TTY/TDD and Voice recording.

Samsung DoubleTime is an entry level clamshell Android smartphone, which is aimed at converting quick messaging handset crowd to smartphone users. It is sturdily designed, appealing to eyes and offers refreshing design with dual displays, comfortable QWERTY keyboard, flip open design, excellent call quality, 3.0-megapixel camera with camcorder and is perfect for staying connected to social networking sites, texting and multitasking. At AT&T, it is the pioneering handset with 3.2-inch two touchscreen displays. Its amazing design provides far more freedom along with options for updates, enjoying favorite movies, games or sites and inputs on the web.

Once you flip open the Samsung DoubleTime, it provides you with more viewing angles with built in stand for freeing up your hands. When both displays fold together, it is amazingly small. Typing is easier, with its full QWERTY keyboard, which eliminates with one press of a button multiple times to get the letter you need. Social updates and texting go faster. The best thing about Android 2.2 Froyo operating system is that you have more control over the device. It allows you to access more than 250,000 downloadable applications, widgets and games. With the capability to add two additional home screens and five customizable home screens, you can get creative, go crazy, move things around and rearrange.

The Samsung DoubleTime is an exceptional choice for those who are in the market seeking a smartphone with two displays, comfortable keyboard and petite hinging face. With its pink accents, white body, hinged clamshell form factor, QWERTY keyboard and dual touch screens, the Samsung DoubleTime looks exactly like the kind of device to come out of T-Mobile, not its buttoned-up rival and would-be owner, AT&T. Sadly, the design is its best element, but is terms of feature, it is serviceable and provides very little to entice. It is available for the price of $49.99 and is budget friendly. The DoubleTime is a unique combination of pink accents, Froyo operating system and interesting QWERTY design.

The Samsung DoubleTime is full white with dual sturdy hinges, which swing open 3.2 inch touchscreen for revealing a similar screen within along with four-row QWERTY keyboard. It measures 0.6 inch thick, 4.5 inches tall and 2.4 inches wide, which means, it is relatively small, thick handset. It is quite different as compared to other razor thin smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Droid Razr. Apart from bulkier design, it is quite heavy weighing 5.2 ounces. The DoubleTime comes with 3.2 inch display that boasts 480 x 320 pixel resolution with small icons and sites that aren’t easy to read like huge displays. However, it looks bright and colorful enough, once you are not in direct sunlight. Powering the DoubleTime is an Android Froyo 2.2 operating system and supports most features such as hotspot connectivity for up to 5 devices.

The Samsung DoubleTime’s Android operating system features a TouchWiz interface of Samsung and provides you with the capability to view an overview of home screen once you pinch in. Underneath the display, you will find four physical buttons, which are quite responsive and nice and reveal search, menu, home and back functions. At the back, you will find a 3.2-megapixel rear facing camera, while the microSD memory card slot is located under the battery cover. The volume rocker button is situated on the left hand side of the smartphone, while the 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. The micro USB charging port is at the bottom.

Aforementioned, the Samsung DoubleTime’s screen flips up like the book for revealing second display and keyboard. It manages to be spacious and small with space between squarish buttons. As a Froyo device, it comes with all the Android features, including Wi-Fi, multimedia and text messaging, GPS, support for multitude of email accounts and Bluetooth. You will also find contact importing with group calling and rich contact records. Some of the Google services include Gmail, free navigation with turn by turn directions and Maps, YouTube, Latitude for location, Voice Search, Google Books, Google Talk and Google Places. The music player covers the basics of creating playlists and shuffling.

As a smartphone, the Samsung DoubleTime comes with standard features such as calendar, task manager, calculator, memo pad and clock. AT&T also added its own applications, which includes U-Verse that allows you to stream and download TV content, AT&T Code Scanner and AT&T Navigator. Facebook and Yellow Pages Mobile are also installed. The 3.2-megapixel camera offers washed out images, which lack certain clarity and richness.

Standard features on Samsung DoubleTime include 2G Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; 3G Network: HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100; 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen that boasts 320 x 480 pixel resolution, Secondary TFT touchscreen that offers 320 x 480 pixels with QWERTY keyboard, TouchWiz UI and Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate; Vibration; MP3, WAV ringtones; Practically unlimited entries and fields, Photocall; Internal 260 MB; microSD, up to 32GB; GPRS; EDGE; 3G: HSDPA and HSUPA; Bluetooth with A2DP and Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP); 3.2-megapixel camera with 2048×1536 pixels and Geo-tagging and Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo).

Also standard on Samsung DoubleTime include 600 MHz processor; SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, IM; GPS with A-GPS support; SNS integration; MP4/H.264/H.263 player; MP3/WAV/eAAC+ player; Organizer; Image/video editor; Document viewer; Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration; Adobe Flash support; Voice memo; Predictive text input; Phonebook: Multiple numbers per contact, Caller groups, Picture ID, Search by both first and last name and Ring ID; Calendar, Alarm, Calculator and Notifications: Polyphonic ringtones, Music ringtones (MP3), Flight mode, Vibration, Speakerphone and Silent mode. The estimated battery life of DoubleTime is 10 days in standby mode and 6 hours in talktime mode. Overall, it is benchmarked on par with other low-end Android smartphones.

HTC Rezound is an amazing multimedia and internet machine, which fits into your pocket, but is a bulky piece of kit. It offers unbelievably sharp, gorgeous high definition 720p 4.3 inch display for Web browsing and videos, 1.5GHz dual core processor, 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, front facing 2-megapixel camera, 4G/LTE speeds of Verizon and pair of Beats earbuds with Beats Audio algorithm engineered for enhancing sound quality. Along with Droid Razr and Galaxy Nexus, the Rezound is expected to be a strong competitor to iPhone 4S. It is considered as one of the solid feeling smartphones with gunmetal bezel; unique soft touch tiered back cover and curved corners.

With HTC Rezound, you can stream videos, music and movies at breakneck 4G/LTE speeds on the most reliable, fastest 4G network of America. Fire up HTC Watch, Slacker Radio or Rhapsody and leave the buffering behind. The Rezound is also equipped with Beats Audio, a technology, which brings out impressive sound quality in your movies and music, so you can hear every little detail. Its 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen display boasts full 720p high definition, so you can watch videos and movies without distortion or cropping. With highest screen resolution in the market, the Rezound walks the walk and talks the talk. Make your own multimedia with rear facing 8-megapixel and front facing 2-megapixel camera. The camcorder of Rezound captures video in full 1080p high definition and plays it back in slow motion, allowing you to watch everything.

The HTC Rezound is not only engineered with Beats Audio, but is also designed with next generation HTC Sense and Android. While it might have a hefty build, the Rezound’s gorgeous screen, multimedia rich features and commendable performance makes it a top choice for Verizon customers. It is one of three astonishing Android smartphones headed to Verizon this season; the other two include Google approved Samsung Galaxy Nexus and superskinny Motorola Droid Razr. All of these devices are high end handsets with features galore, dual core processors and support for 4G/LTE network of Verizon.

The HTC Rezound is the first United States-bound smartphone equipped with Beats Audio feature, which the company designed after it bought majority stake in Dr. Dre’s Beats Electronics. It is a heavy handset with 720p high definition screen with attractive Sense 3.5 user interface of HTC. It is powered by Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system; however the company has assured Ice Cream Sandwich will be offered for Rezound in 2012. The Rezound comes with impressive eight-megapixel camera with f/2.2 sensor, 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, two-megapixel front facing camera, 1080p high definition video capture and support for 4G LTE network of Verizon.

As compared to other 4G LTE smartphones, the HTC Rezound is quite heavy measuring 0.54 inch thick, 5.08 inches high and 2.58 inches wide, weighing 5.78 ounces. The clad in soft touch matte material is identical to that of Incredible 2 and Incredible with topographic back cover and curved corners, which add character to Rezound. With tapered edges and narrow bezel, it is pretty comfortable to hold in hand. Like Droid Incredible, the phones insides are red that complements Rezound’s black and red coloring. The company carries the touch of red to other parts like ring around camera lens, speaker grille, touch sensor lights and wired cord of Beast earbuds.

One of the exquisite features found on HTC Rezound is the 4.3 inch Super LCD screen that offers 1280 x 720 pixel resolution with buttery smooth text and images, vivid colors and amazing clarity. The video looks luscious on generous screen size, while Web browsing is a treat. The touchscreen is quite capacitive and responsive, with its 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. You will experience the snappiness while tapping and swiping, thanks to its pinch to zoom functionality with built in accelerometer, proximity sensor and light sensor.

Like HTC Rhyme, the HTC Rezound has HTC Sense 3.5 user interface. Other enhancements include three dimensional display home screen carousel, capability to remove and add home screen panels and refined applications. You can have seven home screens, and the main menu is classified into Verizon applications, all apps, downloaded apps and frequently used applications. Beneath the screen, you will find touch sensitive buttons for search, home, back and menu functions. The volume rocker button is located on the right hand side of the device, while micro USB charging port to the left that doubles as Mobile High Definition Link port. The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top of the smartphone, while the 2-megapixel front facing camera is on upper right of the screen. The 8-megapixel rear facing camera is at the back with LED flash.

The HTC Rezound’s Beast Infusion of HTC is a software button, which toggles sound enhancement off or on. This button can be accesses from notifications pull down, while playing music in stock application. Nevertheless, it is not available for multimedia applications like Google’s own music app. Some of the Google’s array of services and applications include YouTube, Gmail, Latitude, Google Talk, Places, Google Search with Voice, Google Books and Google Maps with Navigation. Essential smartphone features are PIM tools such as calendar, alarm clock, calculator, task manager, to-do list, speakerphone and voice command support.

Verizon and HTC have packed the HTC Rezound with plethora of applications, including Amazon.com’s Kindle app, Facebook, Blockbuster, Friend Stream, Footprints, Let’s Golf 2, Hot Pursuit, Scan, Polaris Office, Video Surf, Slacker radio, My Verizon Mobile, NFL Mobile, V Cast Music, Mobile IM, VZ Navigator and V Cast Videos.

LG Optimus V comes with Google features and apps like Google search bar along with voice search, Gmail, Google Calendar sync, YouTube, and Google Talk. This is a Virgin Mobile handset and hence you get plenty of third party apps from the service provider as well like AirG Chat, Poynt, Twidroydd, Virgin Mobile Live, and Scvngr. Through Virgin Mobile Live you can stream music from the Virgin Mobile Festival artists free of cost. There is also a My Accounts app through which you can keep a track of the minutes that you have used.

LG Optimus V lets you set up the IMAP/POP3 account in separate app and if you wish to use corporate e-mail, this handset has support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync too. Other features worth mentioning here are speaker phone, vibrate mode, conference calling, calculator, voice dialing, calendar, visual voice mail, and multimedia and text messaging. This phone has usual Android video and music players. Amazon MP3 Store app isn’t available but you can get it from Android Marketplace. For storing content, there is 170 MB of internal memory and the external card slot can support up to 32 GB cards.

LG Optimus V has a 3.2 megapixel camera and its quality is quite similar to other Optimus handsets. The photos look quite decent but the colors aren’t as vibrant and sharp as I’d have expect. This camera can also record videos.

For testing, I used the LG Optimus V along with Virgin Mobile in the city of San Francisco. The quality of call was good; there was good clarity and volume for the incoming calls and there was no occasional background hiss that I see on other phones. Voices were natural sounding too.

On the other side, my friends said that they could hear me clearly. They did find my voice digitized and muddly sometimes. There weren’t any difficulties in the volume levels until we didn’t turn the speakerphone on. The speaker phone was sounding faraway and muffled.

The 3G speeds on the LG Optimus V are impressive, I could load a standard Web page in about ten seconds and videos on YouTube didn’t have a lot of buffering time too. This entry level smartphone is equipped with a 600 MHz processor but still I was impressed by the fact that there weren’t a lot of hiccups or delays while using the phone.

The rated talk time of this phone is 11 hours and the standby time is 18.75 days. In my tests, I got talk time of just a little over five hours.
