Sanyo Zio M6000 – Unlocked and pricey

Cell Phones — January 25, 2011 at 12:05 am | 2 Comments
Android has made to all the major carriers here in the U.S. and now it is moving to smaller players. U.S. Cellular first got the HTC Desire and Samsung Acclaim and now Cricket Wireless is here with Sanyo Zio M6000. The manufacturer’s first introduced this phone has Kyocera Zio, as Kyocera bought Sanyo last year. The handset has a minimalist feature set and design and you get all the basic things that you’d yearn for in a phone. There are no mind blowing features on this phone and I am not complaining about it. But I will certainly scoff at outdated Android OS 1.6 aka Donut. On the bright side, the performance is quite satisfactory. This phone is made for Cricket’s budget customers. The price of this phone is $249 (if you buy it online, the price is $229). The price is certainly not a bargain but then there are no contract obligations. The data plan of this service provider for Zio  [...]

Cell Phones — January 20, 2011 at 11:01 pm | 4 Comments
Mobile phone operators often came up with some mouth watering deals in order to lure customers to their network. However, some of these operators had pretty bad network and hence the mobile phone users were caught in a soup when it came to making phone calls. They couldn’t switch to any other network because their numbers were locked to a single operator. Mobile number portability India or MNP has been rolled out all over and through this facility, you can switch networks without changing the phone numbers. This facility was rolled out by the Indian Prime Minister; Dr. Manmohan Singh and service providers are scrambling with a ton of attractive offers and freebies to make sure that the customers don’t desert them. This mobile number portability India facility will also force the cell phone operators to improve the network and service quality and you  [...]

HTC EVO 4G Review – Huge screen

Cell Phones — January 4, 2011 at 12:05 am | Comment Now
While writing the HTC EVO 4G review, the first thing I noticed was that it is a huge phone. The device is a bit taller as compared to the iPhone and a wider too. The thin chassis means that this device is quite comfortable in the hand. Also, you will be glad to know that the handset is large but not heavy. It feels very solid without any access doors or flaps on the sides. The design overall is modern and sleek. Below the screen, there are touch sensitive buttons which makes the front surface unbroken. The phone is almost black everywhere except for some silver elements on the branding logos and speaker grille. Also, on the back, there are red accents around the kickstand and lens of the camera. I would like to put some emphasis on the kickstand on this HTC EVO 4G review. This is the first phone ever to have one. You can put it on and place the phone on  [...]

Reverse cell phone lookup – Very important service

Cell Phones — January 2, 2011 at 12:05 am | Comment Now
Reverse cell phone lookup is quite popular these days because technology has made it easily accessible. Earlier, you had to remember the name of a particular person for looking up information like address. These days, you can look information by just taking phone number from the caller ID or calling list of the phone. In this article, I will tell you how reverse cell phone lookup works. Through this, you can find the address and name of the person with just phone number. This was almost impossible when White pages were primary source of the contact information. All info on the book was alphabetically listed by a name. For finding a phone number, you had to spend a lot of time to locate it in the small listings. Reverse cell phone lookup can be done on a computer; this service is offered by a lot of companies but not all of them give similar quality of information or  [...]

Refurbished cell phones – Why not?

Cell Phones — January 1, 2011 at 12:05 am | Comment Now
Everybody wants to own the hottest and newest cell phones that have come in to the market but not all can afford to buy them. This is pretty frustrating especially for tech enthusiasts. There is one alternative to escape from this frustration – you can buy refurbished cell phones. You might be hesitating to buy a used cell phone thinking that it device might have some defects. However, if you thoroughly check the refurbished cell phone before buying, you will certainly get a good deal. Not everyone out there sells a mobile phone just because it is worn out and old. A couple of my friends have sold smartphones just because they are crazy about cell phones and want a new one every six months! Some people even sell their phones because  [...]

Samsung Eternity – Big touch screen

Cell Phones — December 28, 2010 at 12:05 am | Comment Now
Samsung Eternity has everything that you’d want in a touch screen phone. The device has a candy bar rectangular shape along with slim profile. The screen is large enough and the dimensions of the phone are 4.3 by 2.2 by 0.5 inches. Samsung Eternity is about 3.88 ounces which makes it a bit lighter as compared to other such phones. This makes the phone feel very sturdy in the hand. The scheme of black color gives the phone a simple yet attractive look and I liked the glossy material which surrounds the screen and metal shiny spines. My only complaint in terms of the design is the plastic battery cover which makes the phone look a bit cheap; I would have preferred metal cover. Samsung Eternity has a 3.2 inch display which is between Behold and Instinct, both by the same manufacturer. This would make it adequate for most of the users whether you are browsing through the  [...]

Sanyo cell phones review – Sanyo Mirro SCP3810

Cell Phones — December 27, 2010 at 12:03 am | Comment Now
Sanyo brand was Kyocera some time ago but its phones still have that classic Sanyo roots. With sharp display, simple navigation controls and boxy profile; this handset has all the marks of Sanyo cell phones. I got the Sanyo Mirro SCP3810 phone in my labs for review and it is pretty compact at 0.7 inch thickness, two inches width, 3.8 inches height and the weight is 3.9 ounces. You won’t have any problems carrying the phone in your pocket. There are two color options – black onyx and regal red. I got the later for review in my labs but the feature set in both the models is the same. I wasn’t too happy with the external display but then mediocre outer screens have always haunted Sanyo  [...]

Samsung SGH-F480 – Good camera

Cell Phones — December 25, 2010 at 12:05 am | Comment Now
Samsung SGH-F480 looks very pretty and with regards to the design, the biggest competitor to this handset is the Armani phone. But in terms of features and user interface, the F480 is miles ahead. Samsung has put in TouchWiz UI for this phone which makes things a lot livelier. There is also a widget bar on the home screen which gives you quick access to the programs. You can also reorder the apps according to your preference by drag and drop. The new interface is mixed bag, I like that the manufacturer put in more interactive experience; there is more eye candy now courtesy of the animated transitions. There is also onboard subtle feedback which gives you some tactility. However, unlike Omnia, the Samsung SGH-F480 has a UI which looks more stripped down. For instance, widgets bar is pretty limited for customization. There is only a predefined programs list which you can  [...]
