Synology Disk Station DS410 NAS server – the best RAID 5 setup
Gadgets — April 20, 2010 at 12:05 am | Comment NowThe Synology Disk Station DS410 costs $500 without any storage and $1200 with 4TB storage capacity. It is the best deal that Synology has offered till date. The non-storage server is much cheaper than the DS710+. The DS410 performed very well like other Synology NAS servers. Its Web interface is robust and can manage the numerous functions and features. On the downside it supports only one IP camera out of the box and you have to additionally buy more licenses for others that cost $50 per camera. It also lacks dual-Ethernet jack that reduces its capacity to maintain the high throughput even while heavy loads. It is very difficult for some users to install the DS410 due to its cumbersome design. Overall, if you need a four-bay RAID-5 NAS server then the Disk Station DS410 is the best choice. However, we will recommend HP MediaSmart EX495 for home users who need similar performance and storage.
