Which Laptop Size Are You?

Laptops — April 29, 2009 at 11:33 pm | 4 Comments
Before I became a regular laptop user, i was impartial to the size of the laptop I used. Most of these were company issued, anyway, so I didn't care a bit whether I brought an IBM Thinkpad, a Toshiba Satellite or a Compaq Armada to meetings. But when I actually purchased my first notebook computer, size was a big consideration. Before netbooks became popular, your laptop sizes usually came in 14-inch, 15-inch, and 12-inch variants. Then there were the odd-sized laptops, like the 17-inch and 19-inch ones with big screens, and 10- or 11-inch ones that were very portable. And the screen size of the laptop you used was usually descriptive of what you did for a living, or at least what you use laptops for. 14-inch: the standard I considered 14-inch screens as the basic standard for laptop sizes. The first laptop I purchased was actually a 14-incher.  [...]

Even though the 3G may be affordable in the prices that are offered, what about all of the other options that are featured with the Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-11G series? Generally when an individual is looking to make the important purchase of any type of laptop, there are a few specific factors they will want to take into consideration first before making the ultimate decision on which unit is best for them. If you see that you are going to end up spending a large amount of money, then you certainly would like the benefit of being able to enjoy the features that it offers, right? The 3G may be affordable in the Toshiba Satellite Pro S300-11G but that is not the only thing you will want to look at if you are considering this specific choice in laptops. One enjoyable factor is that this unit is quite a big larger than many of the other choices available on the market today.  [...]

The Argument for Netbooks

Consumer Electronics, Gadgets, Laptops — April 25, 2009 at 6:56 pm | Comment Now
I've been a fan of netbooks since Asus came out with the first generation EeePC, the 701. The week it was released locally, I went to my favorite laptop store and bought myself one. An early Christmas gift, I told myself. And I've been hooked ever since. In the days before the EeePC, subnotebooks ruled the ultraportable market. But they were far different from netbooks as we know them today, especially when you look at the price factor. Subnotebooks used to cost upwards of $2,000. And that's just for the basic models from Toshiba and Fujitsu. Back then, you didn't even have WiFi connectivity! But today, you can snap up a netbook from a multitude of brands for as low as $250 or even less, with tie-ins with telecoms providers. Of course, the argument here is that while they are cheap, they're not as powerful as their full-fledged  [...]

Macbook Pro Unsatisfactory Experience

Laptops — April 22, 2009 at 11:00 am | Comment Now
Even during the very slow winter months of the year at my company, I still use my MacBook Pro an endless amount of hours each and every day throughout the week. If my friends and colleagues are not able to find me busy at work in my office or lounging leisurely on the couch in my home as I’m busy working my fingers to the bone, then they know they can generally find me sitting on a bench at one of the local parks in my neighborhood. The only bad thing about going to the park however is the fact that the 2.53 ghz battery that is used in the laptop does not last nearly as long as it should. I have tried other batteries as well and I’m still lucky if I am able to get a mere hour and a half of usage. This fact certainly makes me wonder if the problem does not lie somewhere else other than in the battery itself. What makes it even more frustrating is how  [...]

Apple’s Variable Pricing Scheme

I do not know about any other person’s thoughts, but I think it was only a matter of time before iTunes was going to have to contemplate the idea of taking advantage of just how much they could benefit from offering variable price rates for the music that they provide. For a very long time there have been tremendous amounts of people all around the world who have been consistently enjoying the fact that they can listen to their individual taste in music and take advantage of only having to pay a minimum set price in order to do so. With the crunch of the economy reaching just about every type of business, there have even been several record label companies that have taken a hit in the amount of revenue that they normally receive through CD sales. What seems to have been a huge benefit for everyone all the way around is the new digital music download prices that have  [...]
