Razzle Dazzle:

The phone is almost identical to Sprint’s LG LX370 except for the color design. The MT375 comes in a racy red color. The handset is doesn’t look sleek but its trim profile and clean lines make it quite attractive. The build of the phone is sturdy and it feels comfortable to hold it in the hand.

Inside Dope:

Cell phone manufacturers are going overboard these days with putting in all kinds of high end features on to their phones. The only exception to this was MetroPCS but off late, they too have joined the bandwagon of feature rich phones. They have churned out a few touch screen smartphone and have announced 4G service in the latter half of this year. LG Lyric MT375 doesn’t belong to those high end phones. It is a simple basic entry level handset for people who just want to make phone calls. The handset is priced at $139 and it might seem a bit high. But remember that it doesn’t come with any contract and you get a rebate of $25 if purchased online.

The display of the LG Lyric MT375 is 2 inches big. It supports 262,000 colors and has a 240×320 pixel resolution. It is easy to use the menu in both icon and list style. You get a options for shortcut on the home screen. Options for customizing the display are not extensive but for most users, they are enough. You can change the background color, backlight time, clock style, wallpaper, and size, style and size of the dialing font.

The navigation array of the LG Lyric MT375 is quite spacious and houses two soft keys, back control button, circular navigation button with OK key in the center and Talk/End keys. The keypad beneath is user friendly and roomy. The keys are flat but there are ridges between them which make typing easy. Just like previous LG phones, this keypad too comes with a big numbers on the buttons.

LG Lyric MT375 review

On the left side of LG Lyric MT375, there is the micro USB charger jack and a volume rocker button. On the right, there is the 2.5 mm headphone jack, micro SD card and voice command key. The external speaker and camera lens are located on the back.

The LG Lyric MT375 has a spacious 1000 entry limit phone book which should be enough for an entry level user. A single entry can take multiple phone numbers, two postal addresses, and two e-mail IDs. The contacts can be saved to groups and you can also assign photos to your contacts.

LG Lyric MT375’s feature set is pretty straightforward, you have multimedia and text messaging, speakerphone, standard and tip calculator, calendar, notepad, alarm clock and unit converter. There are some high end features like wireless Web browser, stereo Bluetooth, instant messaging (AIM and Windows Live), USB mass storage, PC syncing, voice memo recorder and voice dialing. The handset also supports MetroPCS’s ChatLink push-to-talk service and also MetroNavigator for GPS location with turn by turn directions.

Behind the LG Lyric MT375, you have a two megapixel camera which gives you options for 3 quality settings and 6 resolutions. Other options include 10x digital zoom, 4 white balance settings, night mode, brightness adjustment, multishot mode, four shutter options along with a silent option and a self timer. The camera can also shoot videos, you get two resolution options for the clips and the editing options are quite similar to that of the camera mode. MMS clips cannot be longer than 15 seconds but in the standard mode, you can shoot bigger clips.

LG Lyric MT375’s music player is pretty basic, it supports AAC and MP3 files. This is a basic entry level phone and hence lack of features is not that disappointing. You still get repeat and shuffle modes along with support for playlists and album art. The music player can be sent in the background and there is also an airplane mode. For loading music on to the device, you just have to drag and drop the tracks from your computer through the USB cord.

Call quality of the LG Lyric MT375 is quite satisfactory. On our side, things were smooth and we could hear our friends clearly but on the other side, people said that they could hear some background noise. Speaker phone calls were just ok. Bluetooth calls were also good but that again depends on the headset you are using.

Nitty Gritty:

This is a basic phone from MetroPCS just for making calls and sending text messages. It has a few extras too. If you are looking for a low end phone, this is a good choice.
