It is strange that a lot of backlight keyboard have started coming up in the past few months; these gadgets were relatively rare some time ago. Logitech first gave us the wired illuminated keyboard and now they are here with the wireless version of it. The highlight of this product is the ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the back lighting of the keys according to the ambience lighting. We don’t know if this is useful to you or not but we think this is more of a marketing gimmick. There are also proximity detectors which detect that your fingers are in a typing position and then get unlocked. Otherwise, pushing the buttons will have no effect.

You also get a microUSB cord which automatically refreshes the battery when it is on a low. The rated battery life of this Wireless Illuminated K800 is about ten hours provided it is used judiciously. All this comes at a high price though; the cost of this keyboard is $99.99 which is too much for a keyboard, according to us. The keyboard will be out later this month, go get it if you have plenty of money to burn. Logitech says the keyboard emit the right amount of light in the dark and hence you can type comfortably. During the day time, the backlighting disappears to conserve battery life. This computer peripheral also has Logitech’s Unifying technology which means you can use a single USB receiver to connect multiple Logitech peripherals which have support this technology. The backlighting gets switched off automatically when your fingers are away from the keyboard, courtesy of the proximity sensor. The keyboard is based on 2.4 GHz wireless technology and hence there are no dropouts or delays, according to Logitech. Batteries are recharged by the USB cable and hence you can continue with your work even when the device is getting charged.
