Sum and Substance:

Thumbs Up:

Very attractive looking, drivers at back and front give omni directional output, has headphone/auxiliary input.

Thumbs Down:

Thin bass

Inside the Trunk:

Power cord.

The Whiz Kid Speaks:

Logitech Speaker System Z320 is a 2 speaker set, with total output of 10 watts, response bandwidth 70-20000 Hz.

Connectors on the speakers are headphones and audio line. The set is 3.5 inch big, 7.8 inch deep, 3.5 inch high. The set comes with a two year warranty.

Razzle Dazzle:

Z320 from Logitech is a very attractive looking speaker set; it has a glossy front which is prone to attract a lot of finger prints. However we don’t touch the speakers much and hence we will term the glossy body will in turn give you a sexy shiny exteriors. There is no protective grill on the speaker and the drivers are naked. Keep the set away from pets or babies.

The structure of the speakers looks great, they slope at an angle and so the drivers of the speaker stare at your face when you are on the desk.

Inside Dope:

Logitech got us 4 speakers for personal computer or laptop and all of them are in the price range of $69.99-$129.99. None of these speakers have USB connectivity and they have drivers at both the sides which give you omni direction sound output.

Logitech speaker system z320 review

The speakers have omni directional sound as it has drivers both in the front and the back. This is seldom seen in speakers and we think this is great innovation. Even if you turn the speaker around the back speakers will give you same quantity of noise since the size of the drivers is same on both the sides. The speakers are designed to be placed in the center of the room or someplace where the sound can be thrown in all the directions. We think this is a bit difficult if you are using this set as a desktop speaker since the back of the speaker will face the wall.

The speakers are not that heavy one speaker weighs about 1.1 pounds and the other one, weighs 1.4 pounds due to the built in amplifier. The right speaker has the power control button. The speakers are connected by a six foot big cord so that you can place the set at a distance from each other for better sound distribution. The right speaker also has an aux input for MP3 players.

Logitech aggressively advertised this set by saying that the sound is distributed to all the corners of the room due to the Logitech 360-degree sound. They also said that there are no dropped out bass thumps, missing high notes or dead spots, the speakers disperse sound so clearly that you feel that you are in your music, movies or games. The manufacturer further went on to claim that you can hear every nuance and note from all the corner of the room. Now that is a bit too much, we know that the 2 way speaker is a nice innovation but the sound quality is way short of the hype.

Sound quality is decent but not worth paying $70. The bass is not great and sound is restrained in explosions in games and movies. On a positive note, acoustic music and movie dialogs sound really good. If you are a fan of hip-hop music and need good bass, ideal option in this price range would be Logitech Z323, another 2.1 set.

Nitty Gritty:

Logitech Speaker System Z320 is a good option if you are looking for a set of compact speakers with decent sound quality. We were a bit disappointed because the quality of the speaker didn’t live up to all the hype that was advertised.

It is unfortunate, but over the years this company has come up short a number of times with their speakers. They started long ago with just computer speakers and little by little they moved into more main stream markets, but I have yet to see this company really come up with something that can rival the big hitters like Bose or Harmon. It take a really good research and development team to create a masterpiece.
