Apple MacBook Air (summer 2011, 11-inch) – Lighter, Faster and Portable
July 24th, 2011 | Laptops | Comment NowApple’s recently launched MacBook Airs (11- and 13- inch) are the successor to Apple’s MacBook Airs that debuted in October last year. The previous generation 11-inch MacBook Air was the slimmest, smallest and the most portable laptop ever made by Apple. Now, while all that sound pretty tempting, there was minor issues with the system likes of its previous-generation Core 2 Duo processor, absence of an SD card slot and a backlit keyboard. But with the 2011 Apple MacBook Air, the company has taken care of all of those minor issues and the best thing is that the price for the new laptops has been kept low, and the next generation MacBook Air comes with a starting price of $999.
Review:
The newly launched 11- and 13-in MacBook Airs of Apple have been upgraded with all new and fast 2nd generation Core i5 processors from Intel, and in addition to this, the laptops also comes with [...]
RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 – for first time smartphone buyers
July 23rd, 2011 | Cell Phones | Comment NowIntrinsically speaking, RIM BlackBerry phones have always catered to the upmarket users but it was inevitable that they would make an attempt at the mainstream consumer market soon. RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 is an outcome of such an endeavour and this smartphone also goes by the name BlackBerry Gemini. This handset has a pretty solid form factor but the specs are average. You still get that wonderful QWERTY keyboard which this company has been known for since a long time. One unique feature here is that the optical ‘trackball’ replaces the analog one that which we have known in the past.
Design
RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 has a traditional BB layout and there is a 2.64 screen sitting above the full QWERTY keyboard. On the either side, there are two convenience keys on the either side and a two megapixel camera on the back. This [...]
LG Cosmos 2 – A Compact Messaging Phone
July 22nd, 2011 | Cell Phones | Comment NowLG might have expanded their presence in the Smartphone market in US, with their models like T-Mobile’s G2X and LG Revolution, but the company still takes care of the customers looking for simple messaging handsets. The all new LG Cosmos 2 from LG is the latest offering of the company for the customers looking for basic messaging phones and the Cosmos 2 enters the market with Verizon Wireless. The Cosmos 2 is the heir of LG’s Cosmos messaging phone launched last year.
The all new LG Cosmos 2 is a rather entry-level handset even by the standards of modern feature phone, and comes with a 1.3 MP camera and doesn’t have 3G. Although, the silver lining here is that the handset has Bluetooth, music player, mobile e-mail and even offers access to some of the prominent social networks. The handset doesn’t have a lot of enhancements over its precursor, but the handset is available for free [...]
BlackBerry PlayBook Gets US Government Use Certifications
July 21st, 2011 | News | Comment NowThe tablet market in modern time is one of the fastest growing markets, and almost every major PC manufacturer has launched a Tablet PC for their intended customers. One such entry was the PlayBook from Blackberry, and although it wasn’t as successful as the iPad from Apple, but RIM doesn’t seems to give up their hopes on the tablet PC.
RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook might not exactly be the favourite tablet PC of the customers, but the company has managed to fetch at least one accolade for their tablet for one of their key customer bases: the government agencies. The company today proclaimed that the PlayBook by far is the first tablet to get the purported FIPS 140-2 certification that as per RIM means that the US federal government can but the PlayBook [...]
Apple Launches New Fast and Light MacBook Airs, Kills off The Old Plastic MacBook
July 20th, 2011 | News | Comment NowSo, just as we projected, Apple has restructured their MacBook Air. The already immensely-portable laptop with all the new updates has become a serious rival for its elder brother the MacBook Pro.
As a matter of fact, if you check out the specifications you’ll find that the MacBook Pro. And if you still are stuck on the plastic MacBook, then you better rush to your local reseller, because Apple has killed it.
The largest internal changes that the new MacBook has got are its processor and the all new Thunderbolt Port. The Thunderbolt port of the system replaces the Mini DisplayPort of the previous MacBook Air, doubling the video-out functionality of the system and at the same time adds support for its high-speed I/O protocol that firstly was added to the all new Apple iMacs. At present there are no Thunderbolt-compatible accessories available for sale, but we expect that to change [...]
Acer Aspire One 722-BZ608 – Affordably-Priced 11 in Laptop
July 19th, 2011 | Laptops | Comment NowTalking of netbooks in present tablet era seems a tad outdated, and it wont be a lie if we say that Netbooks actually have eventually disappeared from Earth, but not completely. Even in the post-iPad age, every now and then we see the inexpensive 10- and 11- in laptops paving their way into the market, and while not many of the aspiring customers will go for these notebooks, its nice to see that even these netbooks are changing with time. And although there still are some netbooks which still have the Intel Atom-based processors powering them and offering nominal processing capabilities and having a price tag of about $299, there still are couple of 11 in laptops, which have entered the market with even more powerful onboard graphics and AMD-based processors. We’ve seen many ultra-portables having E-350 APUs, like the Sony Vaio VPC-YB15KX/S and HP Pavilion dm1z, and the Acer Aspire One [...]
