Palm Releases A ‘Pixi’
News — on September 9, 2009 at 1:05 am | 1 CommentAfter the Pre smart phone, Palm is wasting no time in trying to cash in on its success by launching its sibling, the Pixi.
The pixi smart phone is slightly longer but svelter than the Pre smart phone. It sports a fairly smaller multi-touch screen though and has a full QWERTY keyboard. Much like its predecessor, the Pixi will still have a memory of 8GB and the same GPS capabilities. The smaller smart phone will also feature a 2-megapixel camera.
Jon Rubinstein, Palm chairman and C.E.O. stated, ‘With Palm WebOS, we’re creating a new, more intuitive smart phone experience defined by unmatched simplicity and usefulness. Palm Pixi brings this unique experience to a broader range of people who want enhanced messaging and social networking in a design that lets them express their personal style.’
Palm registered record sales when the Pre smart phone went on sale in June. Analysts put the figures between 50,000 and 100,000 units sold during the first weekend because the company did not discuss any specific numbers. The announcement of the Pixi comes in less than four months after the Pre smart phones went on sale.
The launch of the Pixi coincides with an announcement that the Pre smart phone would now retail at a price drop of $50 to $150 with a two-year service agreement as well as two rebates. Palm did not reveal the pricings of the Pixi but they did say that it would cost less than the Pre smart phones and also that it was expected to hit the stores and made available to the consumers just in time for the holiday shopping season.

I need to say that my selection to invest in a Palm Pixi with Sprint provider was each a rational and emotional just one. I imply, the Palm Pixi is gorgeous and functional. And coupled using the service quality of Sprint, it would seem almost nothing brief of the revolution within the making. I feel that Palm and Sprint have (almost) hit it off famously. I did a whole lot of investigation prior to getting the Pixi but overlooked at minimum one particular issue. The Pixi doesn’t, yet, let me synchronize my e-mails among it and Outlook. As far as I’m concerned, that is a drawback I am facing unless Palm comes up which has a remedy easily. With my prior SmartPhone running a Windows OS, it was a snap to synchronize e-mails as well as other info with one’s Personal computer. But Pixi’s inability to try and do so is making life a small hard for me mainly because I have to Bcc every e-mail, I send out, to my e-mail address and then manually transfer it on the ‘sent’ folder in Outlook. I hope Palm, or at very least a third-party, will arrive up using a solution quite soon that could easily enable me synchronize all my e-mails, and ideally all needed information, in between the Pixi and my office Computer.
