Razzle Dazzle:

This handset is quite slim just like its predecessor. The phone is 4 inches long, 0.7 inch thick and two inches wide. The mobile phone is rectangular in shape and has a curvaceous body which makes it comfortable in the hand. On the phone’s back, there is a dimpled surface which makes it easy to grip. The unit weighs around three and half pounds which is not that heavy.

Inside Dope:

Pantech makes both high end and basic entry level phones but they are more famous in the market for the latter. This phone has been made for people who are looking for a handset just to make calls and send text messages. This phone is the successor to Pantech Breeze which we had some time ago. You might think that this is just a entry level cell phone but we were impressed by some of the mid range features that it had to offer. The phone is really slim, it has quick access buttons and the interface too is very intuitive. We will recommend this handset for people who want a basic phone. This cellphone is yours for $19.99 and it comes with two year service agreement from AT&T.

Being a flip phone, the phone has external display of 1.38 inches and it gives a resolution of 128×128 pixels. You get only basics like date time and caller ID. The display has 65k color support and can display pictures which means you can use it as a photo caller ID. Below the display, there are three LED icons for displaying the missed calls, new messages and low battery life. You don’t have to open the phone for these three features.

On the inside, you have a 2.2 inch TFT LCD display with 262k color support and 240×320 pixel resolution. Images and resolution look crisp and sharp even though the screen is small. There are two options for the menu interface, Advanced and Breeze. The latter removes some of the customization options and menu options are displayed in a larger text. It is more like of an ‘easy’ mode. You can adjust backlight timer, brightness, font size and style, color themes, and greeting text/clock type on the home screen.

Pantech Breeze II review

Pantech Breeze II comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera and it gives you four options for resolutions: 320×240 pixels, 640×480 pixels, 1,024×768 pixels and 1,280×1,024 pixels. There are three picture quality settings as well. Other settings for the camera include white balance presets, 4x zoom, color effects, self-timer, timer sound and shutter sound along with silent options for both of them. Photo quality of the phone is not that great but this is not unexpected of a 1.3 MP camera. Images were quite dull and edges weren’t as sharp as expected. The camera can record video too and in the camcorder mode, you have three options for resolutions, 320×240, 176×144, and 176x144MMS. There is a fourth option called Video Share which lets one way video streaming to your friend if he using AT&T Video Share. Other than that, the camcorder options are similar to the ones on the camera.

Pantech Breeze II comes with lots of options for sounds and sounds for ringtones and wallpapers. You can use your own or get some through AT&T’s AppCenter. The handset has several applications and games; our review model came with MobiTV, AT&T Social Net (which gives quick access to social networks like Facebook and Twitter), Mobile Video, Mobile Banking, My-Cast Weather, PicDial, Pocket Auctions, FunScreenz, Ms. Pac-Man, Tetris, Diner Dash Flo on the Go, I-play bowling and Bubble Bash 2.

We tested the phone for call quality and found that it was very impressive. On our side, callers were both clear and loud with almost no distortion. We didn’t have any dropped calls and the voice quality too was great. On their side, friends said that quality was not as good as landline phone and there was a bit of echo. But we could still talk without any problems. Speaker phone calls were better than average but our friends said that voice sounded a bit harsh to them. We will recommend using a headset for music or hands-free calling.

3G speeds of the Pantech Breeze II were also good when we tested it in our labs. 1.8 MB song took about 39 seconds to download and Websites took about 20 seconds to load fully. While streaming video, we had to wait around 10 seconds which is not that bad. The Pantech Breeze II has rated talk time of three hours and the standby time is ten days.

Nitty Gritty:

This is labeled as an basic phone by the manufacturer but still we were impressed by the feature set.
