Want to know where exactly your friends are located?
Want to expose your address without SMS or E-MAILS?
Want to have a guideline map from the stuck location?
No worries!! Google have innovated the latest Latitude service, “The Google Maps My Location” for mobile devices. The revolutionary service is the one which reveals your location via your cell phone to the selected friends of yours. With this device, you’ll be able to locate any of your shared friends and also you can trace the exact location and the map of the location where your friend is situated.
How does it work?
The working of The Google Maps My Location is quite interesting and also familiar if you have the GPS feature enabled in Google Maps on your mobile phone and aware of the reassuring, pulsating blue dot on the map that represents you wherever you go. Google Latitude is now essentially letting you share that blue dot with anyone you like.
The facility is very similar to the iPhone’s built-in-geo tools, but the dynamic feature is that for this magnificent service, you don’t need to have an iPhone. Even with your Android, Blackberry, Symbian S60, and any Windows Mobile, you can cherish this amazingly astonishing facility. Even for your PC or laptop, there is an iGoogle gadget.
The Google Maps’ My Location uses the signals from nearby cell phone towers to plot the exact location of yours. The location is shared by the Latitudes. The facility is not restricted to just see your friend’s locations in Latitude, but you can also get in touch via SMS, Google Talk, Gmail, or by updating your status message.
How can I get the device?
The Google Latitude mobile application is very easy and simply simple. Download it from your mobile browser at google.com/latitude. You can keep all the records of the friends whom you want to share mutually and keep track of where everyone is at any given time, and from within the app you can call, email, or IM them. All the friends would be having a picture icon on a map or in a list view. The list of the shared friends can also be treated as the location based Twitter.
What about my privacy?
Privacy is always the lead concern for the Google engines. Utmost care is being taken before launching this invention. Privacy is undoubtedly the huge concern for people and The Google Maps’ My Location has kept the secret revealing option with you only.
You can hide your location if you wish to do so, by selecting the “hide” option given on the chart or even you can manually enter a false location if you want. So, the privacy factor is kept on you to decide as to which person you want to reveal off.
