M-Audio Studiophile AV 30- These Are Worth It

Sum n’ substance:

Thumbs up:punchy lows, clear, crisp highs, dandy speakers for the price, classic design, not bulky.

Thumbs down:Gets really hot in the back, a bit of a deep bass response, integrated amplifier isn’t that loud, also the power button is located awkwardly at the back.

The whiz-kid speaks: Being an ardent fan of the M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 range, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the latest one M-Audio has to offer… the M-Audio studiophile AV 30, and if u loved the AV 40 range u surely can’t deny that the AV 30 range is outstandingly awesome and it does live upto the standards set by its eulogized sibling.

Razzle-dazzle: Its got a classic timeless design which stands at 8 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. It’s got a magnetic shielding which prevents it from interfering with the other electronic equipments. It is highly suitable for video editing all thanks to the magnetic shielding. Move aside all the plastic heroes… the studiophile AV#) with its wood cabinets is here to stay.

Inside dope:

Compared to the AV 40 which is priced at $150, its sibling has been priced $99. Also it does not have the same features but yeah obviously since its priced less u cant expect the same stuff from this one. This one resorts to using a cheaper amplifier in contrast to the class-A/B amp used in the AV 40. Also the AV 30 goes ahead with the RCA ins as compared to the studio-quality 1.25-inch TRS audio inputs of the Av 40. I guess I have written a lot about the dissimilarities but what is absolutely killer about this range is the features it has in common with the AV40. an volume control knob which is illuminated, .75-inch, silk, ferrofluid-cooled,dome tweeters, the same solid pro-audio construction quality, and both include headphone output and aux input minijacks on the front of the left speaker. The two speakers can be connected using any standard speaker wire, which is very much unlike the normal less than $100 priced speakers which have an attached fixed length.

The sound levels didn’t go overboard even when I played “one more time’ by daft punk. Also the bass boost feature could bring the bass guitar right in the forefront at places where it could sound grubby.

The amplifier though not bad is obviously not as good as the one offered by the AV40. since, it is a small speaker I don’t expect it match the fullness of sound like the large speakers, but yeah trust me this one ain’t that bad at all. Also I fail to understand the exact reason behind placing the power switch at the back of the speaker. I don’t think many of us would really want to hunch over the desk everytime we want switch the speakers on or off.

Nitty- Gritty: The sound quality is fantabulous not much of shrill or blaring sounds. Highly impressive at the price that it is being offered for. If u are looking out for a high end speaker at a layman affordable price for probably a small room and you are not amongst the ones who would want to rattle your neighbours windows, this would probably be your best choice.
