Review Of Samsung LE32B650 LCD TV – Style And Substance
Consumer Electronics, Gadgets — By Ricky on August 22, 2009 at 7:05 amThe Samsung LE32B650 is one of the latest in Samsung’s line up of the ‘standard backlit‘ 32″ LCD HDTVs in the series 6 650 range. Nowadays with all the fame and glory that the LED backlit screens are getting, you can’t help but notice that the most of the great HDTVs keep getting overshadowed.
But the Samsung LE32B650 is one television that NOBODY can ignore for quite some time (let alone forget).Everyone knows that Samsung is always great when it comes to value for money with their products so at first look, the $600 or so price tag raised quite a number of eyebrows. But you can rest assured that any initial hesitation with the LE32B650 will vanish completely once you realize what the LE32B650 has in store for you.

To start with, the LE32B650 oozes style with its splendid design. A transparent crystal sheet like substance is applied over the black bezel which gives the LE32B650 a touch of real class. The fact that the stand is see through and that this ‘crystal sheet’ extends beyond the panel and curves elegantly gives the LE32B650 a kind of exotic charm that can be used to highlight any room.
The LE32B650 also features a dazzling array of connectivity options which include four HDMIs, not one but two USBs which enable us to play a wide variety of photos, music and video formats. One port can even connect to a external hard disk. The LE32B650 also features an Ethernet port with which you can gain access to latest technology such as internet TV in which you can watch videos from You Tube, access Flickr, news, yahoo widgets etc.
Die hard surfers however may be disappointed as unlike in the Philips 32PFL9604 (also a recent release), the LE32B650 does not offer full internet access instead users will be able to access only a limited number of domains which is more than enough to keep casual users happy.
The LE32B650’s performance is almost flawless. It has a full HD panel with 24p support.

Then there’s the 100Hz engine with motionplus technology which makes images sharper and motion free from any kind of distortion. While the LE32B650 does a decent job of upscaling standard definition (SD) to 1080p, there is definitely room for some for some more improvement. The LE32B650’s black response level is said to be legendary. It manages to produce some of the richest and most royal looking tones of black, the likes of which has never been seen on any HDTV ever.
Another cool feature is Samsung’s content library, which has a host of preloaded stuff like screensavers, recipes, children’s stories and songs along with some basic games too.
You can also store your own stuff such as screenshots and the like using this feature.
The acoustic performance in this television is quite a disappointment as it sounds quite harsh in certain demanding sound sequences. But this by no means deteriorates the viewing experience.
All in all, the LE32B650 is one of the clear leaders in the 32” segment with its strong style statement and hardcore performance it is worth every penny spent.
