The Sum ‘n’ Substance:

Thumbs up: Much faster than the previous models; bigger storage capacity; good feature to price ratio.

Thumbs down: Most games do not take advantage of the graphic capabilities; no camera.

Inside the trunk: 3.5 inch Touch screen with a resolution of  320 x 480; storage capacity of 64 GB; USB port 2.0; Voice Recording; Video Playback; Apple store, iPod + Nike integration, Bluetooth, GPS, in built clock; in built lithium- ion battery having a battery life of 30 hours on a single charge.

The whiz kid speaks:
Apple has the stormed the markets once again, with the launch of the new Nano and the 3rd generation ipod touch. Leaving the Nano aside, the all new ipod touch is much more refined that its predecessors, it carries an increased storage capacity, better graphic capabilities and a much faster processor too. The design of the 64 Gb is sleek and thin and the back looks like it’s coated with molten silver bearing Apple’s iconic logo. The black and beautiful touchscreen adorns the front end. The styling is the same as the iphone. The itouch measures 61.8 x 8.5 x 110 and weighs in at 115 grams. Although, most of the features remain same, we’ll give you a flashback of the itouch’s functions.  the multi-touch 3.5 inch touch screen was the definite headliner. Built out of glass, the touchscreen is very tough and durable. the screen displayed a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It was very easy to navigate through hoops of menus with quick responses, not once did it flinch. The colours displayed were much brighter and vivid, than the older models. The itouch features tremendous graphic capabilities which added more life to the screen. Watching full length movies on the itouch is really not tiresome and strenuous. Sadly though, when it came to playing games, some of them were not able to advantage of the advanced Open GL ES 2.0 graphics capabilities. Then, there are the same features such as the App Store and its brilliant Wi-fi browsing abilities. The App store has more than 75,000 applications made available like maps, stocks, notes, weather and mail. The maps won’t be as accurate as they are on the iphone but, they work provided you’re in the range of a wi-fi hot spot. Mailing has never been easier; the itouch can perform all the internet capabilities with much more elegance than it ever did on the previous models. The scroll has become much smoother, and running between home screens is much quicker and simpler. Even scrolling down through the application store was a breeze. Zooming in and out on the Safari web page, customizing the homepages and clipping features was even more fun. The only thing that the new touch wasn’t quick enough was the boot- up. The new itouch registered a whole 5 seconds for powering up, which is the same as the older model. Now, its main functions as an MP3 player, the ipod touch was magnificent. The sound quality was superb, very clear and crisp. The highs and lows were well-distinguished.

As far as the battery goes, the itouch has an in built rechargeable battery which can last for 30 hours on a single charge.

Nitty-gritty: The new itouch is no different from its previous models; it has an increased storage capacity and runs much faster, making your applications function more smoothly. It costs around $373, which is nearly twice the amount of the 8gb version with the same features.
