Sum ‘n’ Substance:

Thumbs up: Outstanding image and video replication;  flexible config; superb design.

Thumbs down: The true black colour is compromised over brightness levels in the default settings; a big room for comfortable viewing will be required.

Inside the trunk: Display Resolution 1920 x 1080; Brightness 1400; Contrast Ratio 15000:1; Connectivity: Component Video, Composite Video, 2 HDMI ports, RS-232 pin, S-video, VGA; full HD; 720p/1080i Output; 1080p Output; weighs 17kg; price: 4000 pounds.

The whiz-kid speaks:

Razzle –Dazzle: Cineversum have possibly created one of the world’s best looking projectors, which clad in a beautiful deep black and a big blue lens, the Blackwing somewhat resembles the human eye. It’s very rare that a projector would receive applauds and howls for its looks. At he back end you have  the 2 ports for the HDMI , the RS232 pin and the power supply ports.

Inside dope:
The big and hefty Blackwing has a beautiful bluish lens that has a display resolution of 1920 x 1080and uses  the HQV embedded technology . the liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology that is used in the cinversum PJ’s does seem to help a lot, although the technology is common among other PJ manufacturers such as JVC and Sony. The blackwing one  uses three of the 1080p 0.7in LCoS panels, and that is just one side of the PJ’s micro-display technology used. The other side includes a full-glass design of the ultimate-reference lens with a throw ratio of 1.5/2.2:1. the sad part however is that the zoom and focusing lens are not motorized. Some other features of the Blackwing one include the adjustable legs that prove really useful when placed on not-so-flat  and wobbly tables. To mount on the ceiling or upside down mounting, the adjustments are all present in the menu system. It also includes a digital keystone correction adjustment. Another aspect that cineversum has paid special attention is the video processing. The onboard measuring system has two HDMI ports which are compatible with 1080p24, 1080i , composite and S-video components. For gaming and PC function you have to use the D-Sub/VGA input. All the above inputs can be selected with the help of a back-lit remote. Over to the performance, the Blackwing one was just fantastic, it would probably give most LCD and plasma TV builders a run for their money. The depth in the colour was mind- blowing, it could reproduce the images to perfection and was silky –smooth while doing so. There was one minor complaint, however, the default setting focused more on the brightness of the picture and gave less importance to the black levels. With that aside, there was an economic mode which helps  you cut down on your electricity bills, but you have to compulsorily sit in a dark room. With lower noise levels ,I’m referring to the video noise because the heat exhaust fan does tend to distract.

The Cineversum BlackWing One

Nitty-gritty: The Blackwing one offers the future of projectors, it is well –equipped, has one heck of a design and amazing  CRT-esque picture quality. The combination of the LCoS processor, beautiful lens system, scaler and  video processing unit work  in unison to give you a contrast ratio of 15K:. Brilliant work from Cineversum.
