Review Of The EVGA InterView 1700 Dual Monitor System
Gadgets — on August 29, 2009 at 10:30 am | 2 CommentsSum ‘n’ Substance:
Thumbs up:Innovative stand rotates 180 degrees vertically and 90 degrees horizontally; features a webcam and USB ports.
Thumbs down:Burns a huge hole in the wallet, not suitable for gamers.
Inside the trunk:LCD display / TFT active matrix ; Diagonal Size: 17 in – Widescreen ; Max Resolution: 1440 x 900; Built-in Devices Microphone , 1.3 megapixel camera, 3 USB ports.

The Whiz-kid speaks:With all due respect to the innovators of the dual screen, I’d like to think that this dual monitor was made keeping in mind offices that ran short on spaces and not for are gaming freaks. If that’s true, then what’s with the extraordinary price tag of $650 . But lets not stop here and move on to see what the InterView 1700 has to offer.
Razzle –dazzle:I’ll admit, the InterView 1700 does catch your attention. It has two 17-inch screens draped in smooth, black, matte finish and the screens sport a high degree of gloss that easily attracts lint and fingerprints.
Inside dope:
The InterView 1700 sports two 17 inch LCD screens with a max resolution of 1440 x 900. There are 2 modes of functioning clone and extend mode, however the monitors does not support games and movies across both screens in extend mode. You’ll only be able to use one screen each for movies and games. When the screen is flipped, the image automatically rotates so it is readable to those across from you. Each monitor can also fold inward to face the other– just like closing a book.
The brightness controls are the only functions available on the stand. In the upper-left-hand corner sits the power button. At the right we have two blue LED lights that symbolize which display currently running. Near the bottom center of the foot stand a provision has been made for the built-in microphone. The front right side houses three USB ports aligned horizontally. At the back of the stand is an additional USB port for powering the Webcam and other USB ports. At the top end of the stand there is a movable 1.3 megapixel Webcam.
In order for both screens to function in unison, a video card with dual DVI ports is required. Overall the display scored well in our sharpness, color and grayscale tests but had some issues during high contrast and also slight image-ghosts were present too.
Nitty- gritty:I still don’t know what EVGA was after but they sure as hell did not get it or there or anywhere for that matter. Instead of adding more and more features, they should have at least improved the performance of the LCD’s. So if you buy this, you’re stuck with two average-joe monitors and that too for a hefty price tag.

1440 x 900 is really productive resolution with LCD, webcam on dual monitor is so far very positive. I would say it’s terrific option if you don’t need extended mode. But I was looking for extended one. That’s sad, man!
I don’t know whether it is good stuff to consider with 1.3 mp camera & just 3 ports & 650$? Would there be dual monitor with higher res & better camera? But it still looks awesome.
