Review Of The Garmin Nuvi 765T
Car Tech — on August 28, 2009 at 9:15 am | 3 CommentsSum ‘n’ substance:
Thumbs up:Free lifetime traffic up-dates; Ecoroutes software for the most fuel- efficient routes; quick routing response; audio streaming and blue-tooth hands free add to its list of features.

Thumbs down
ower-cord & cradle attachment is a must, for its use in FM traffic hence restricting its use for vehicle- to- vehicle portability.
Inside the trunk:TFT widescreen; resolution 480 x 272; in built FM transmitter; supports micro SD cards; trip computer consists of: Trip timer, Trip distance, Avoid highways, Avoid toll roads, Fast/short route; weight: 6.5oz; USB connectivity; estimated battery life: 5 hours.
The Whiz-kid speaks:Garmin has hit the market with its enormous amount of updates in its Nuvi range of GPS navigation systems. The latest release is the Nuvi 765T loaded with a feature list to direct the blind such as text-to-speech and visual lane guidance, but the best trick in its bag is free, lifetime, Navteq traffic updating. Although ‘free’ means you’ll have the intrusion of advertisements during traffic updates.
Razzle-dazzle:The new Garmin Nuvi 765T uses a similar chassis as in previous Nuvis but the front & back panels have a rubber-like matte finished. The side panels are a glossy deep-black.
The colour screen has resolution of 480×272 pixels (WQVGA). An antiglare coating keeps the screen viewable when sunlit and prevents excessive fingerprinting. At the top edge of the unit is the power/screen lock slider. The right edge is houses a 1/8-inch headphone jack and an SD-card slot; and the bottom is where you’ll find the microUSB port and Garmin’s proprietary dock connector.
Inside Dope:
The Nuvi 765T’s step by step navigation is reinforced by its text-to-speech directions and advanced lane guidance. The 765T also has software to guarantee fuel efficiency. The Ecoroute encourages drivers to drive frugally thus leaving a smaller carbon footprint while saving bucks on fuel. Multimedia features include a photo viewer and a media player that enables the playback of MP3s and Audible.com audiobooks from an SD card. One interesting yet odd feature in the Nuvi 765T was the introduction of the Oxford University Press Language Guide, which translates words and phrases into different languages and reads them aloud using the text-to-speech engine.
The Nuvi 765T has brought in animated menus along with the virtual QWERTY keyboard, besides the touchscreen is quite responsive. The Nuvi 765T can also calculate & recalculate routes in a flash with accuracy.
Nitty- gritty:The Nuvi 765T has an amazing list of features that work with precision. The ad’s are something that can be ignored and will not be an obstacle on your road to happiness. But the performance wasn’t up to the mark and at a steep price tag, Garmin hasn’t completely nailed this one, but you can bank on reaching your destination.

USB connectivity & battery life is too low for long journey. What the hell is the use of it with quick response, updates & blue tooth?
It’s kinda silly to not take advantage of such a multiple use tool. I find it unbelievable. Nuvi 765 is great buy. It’s free once you get it & rechargeable with multiple features to use.
Thank you that comment at my Garmin Great GPS Best Navigator web site.
