Review Of The New Slim PS3
Gadgets — By Ricky on August 25, 2009 at 11:00 pmNowadays is it quite common to see people doing all kinds of weird stuff to slim down a bit and maintain a perfect figure but now the craze seems to have caught on with gadgets too. From CRTs to LCD and from LCDs to LEDs, notebooks to netbooks…the list is virtually endless.

Come September this year and the Sony playstation three too is officially going to get slimmer. The slimmer version boasts of a 120GB hard drive and a jaw dropping £250 price tag. Kaz Hirai the CEO and president of Sony Corporation announced that the slimmer PS3 will hit the stores from the first week of September.
The new slim PS3 inherits the sleek curved body design of the former model but it also features a meticulous design and a fresh, casual look designed to attract almost anyone who lays eyes on them. However the new Slim PS3 is designed to sit horizontally on a surface and will not be capable of standing vertically for which you will need to purchase a stand which will cost you around $24.
As mentioned earlier the new slim PS3 will come with a 120GB hard drive. Sony announced that the internal design and architecture of the new PS3 system has been carefully rebuilt. The result being a PS3 which is 32% smaller and 36% lighter than the earlier PS3.Apparently the power supply unit to the cooling system too has been redesigned so that the new slim PS3 consumes 34% less power. Not only does this step make the playstation system eco-friendly but also helps reduce fan noise.

A Sony spokesperson said that when compared to the first PS3 with a 60GB HDD, the new slim version cuts down the internal volume, thickness and weight to a little more than two-thirds the original.
The new Playstation slim like the 80GB and 160GB models has Wi-Fi and 2 USB ports but this time there will not be any IR or backward compatibility with PS2 games. Sony engineers also seemed to have moved the hard drive from the side of the system to the front to improve accessibility. Linux fans may be a tad disappointed since Sony has decided to dump Linux i.e. the feature which enabled users to install another operating system.
On the other hand the new slim PS3 is equipped with a feature to sync the PS3 with the Sony Bravia. In doing so, the user will be able to operate the XMB on the PS3 using the Sony Bravia TV remote control.

Just fancier looks are so not gonna move me of my place. I mean, 120 GB is indeed a better deal, but I am still thinking of pros & cons.
It’s so beyond to buy or to not to buy……..
It’s a must have, in my opinion. 120GB hard drive, XMB, power efficient & drop dead hot looks……..
Are you kidding……It has to be in my hands, asap.

Jeez! It feels kinky to call it that way.
What’s more advisable, waiting for dropping the prices down?
More importantly, how long time would it take?
Thats awsome! This console is going to be wicked, and its less than the normal PS3!!!!! I wonder if it will have problems tho? like the 360? Hope not. Check this post out, PS3’s are on sale in the US now!

Just awesome, Now nobody can complain about the PS3, so do yourself a favor and buy one. I already have a fat PS3 which is in perfect working condition so I doubt I’ll get a slim one (although the less power consumption is an attractive attribute in this times of crisis), but I encourage you to get one, since on my own experience, its one of the best investments Ive made
