Sum ‘n’ substance:

Thumbs up: It has an attractive design; pretty light in weight, one of the slimmest monitors around; good performance; light on the pockets.

Thumbs down: Not very user-friendly; stand is not very steady.

Inside the trunk: 23 inch screen; 1920×1080 resolution; Contrast ratio of 50000 : 1; total response time of 5 ms; HDMI input; D-Sub input and Dvi input.

The whiz kid speaks:

Razzle dazzle: The XL2370 is a slimmer and slightly more attractive version than its older sibling the P2370. the screen measures 23- inches and has a matte finish to it much like the P2370. the neck of the design is also shares similar design aesthetics like the p2370. The egg-shaped foot stand is 11 inches wide by 7.5 inches deep, but surely isn’t enough to keep the screen steady. The screen is pretty light in weight so even a light putsch or a breeze may cause some severe amount of oscillations. At the lower back we have connection options that are horizontally places instead of down making it very comfortable to access. Some of the options include the DVI-D, HDM, analog and digital audio out connections. At the bottom right hand side of the screen there is an array of hidden onscreen options to adjust the picture such as, colour tones, brightness controls, contrast, and sharpness via  the up down button and the enter button. Some of the colour tones include cool, normal, war, custom, which allows to adjust the red, blue and green individually. There is also an auto button that adjusts the screen automatically.

Inside dope:
The Samsung Sync master XL-2370 has a good resolution of 1920×1080 and a contrast ratio of 50000: 1.  during scenes like the ending credits the blacks were dark and when there other scenes, it was appropriately bright. There was in fade in time, the total response time for adjustments for scene changes was 5 ms, which is pretty decent. The Dynamic contrast works best while watching movies. The colours were also vivid and natural looking. Overall image-quality was well- defined and sharp. This brilliant performance that the XL-2370 put up is because of the backlit LED’s in the monitor. This monitor depends on individual led’s to give the display more accurate control as well as to control the amount of light that goes through.

The best viewing angle is to directly plop yourself right in front of it.  The XL2370 uses a TN panel to enhance the viewing angles, but it does really help much, just like any other LCD’s on the market. Another feature on the monitor itself that is the On-Screen-Display is the refresh button. You can increase the refresh rate from slow to fast to faster, but tweaking these settings did not affect the performance anyway.

On the power consumption front, the XL 2370 did not fair to well; it recorded a power draw of 30.1 watts when in power mode that is and 1.42 watts in the stand-by mode. Running the XL2370 would cost you approximately $ 9-10, which is slightly more than its competitors.

Nitty- gritty: This is fantastic screen to have in your room; it gives you the feeling of satisfaction of living in a modern world. The picture quality is brilliant and comes in at a very affordable price.
