Samsung Galaxy S Aviator is a 4G LTE capable Smartphone and your connection to entertainment on the go in a slim, sleek design. Its Super AMOLED Plus display offers ultra sharp images even in direct sunlight. Easily and quickly download your favorite TV shows and movies from Samsung Media Hub and enjoy Android 2.3. Chat with your friends with the front facing 1.3-megapixel camera and capture moments with its rear facing 8.0-megapixel main camera. With Galaxy S Aviator, US Cellular gets another Android smartphone option. Sadly, the weak single core processor and its limited 4G LTE access weigh down an otherwise high flying cellphone.
With Samsung Galaxy S Aviator, the scrappy Chicago-based wireless provider hopes to counter AT&T and Verizon Wireless with a well designed and LTE smartphone. Nevertheless, it doesn’t quite measure up to the company’s other Galaxy smartphones like Galaxy S II or Galaxy Nexus. In spite of its high flying name, the Aviator isn’t a flagship cellphone, however sits somewhere between the 2011’s Galaxy S II and original Galaxy S. The Aviator comes with a Super AMOLED touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 400 pixel resolution with deep blacks and vibrant colors.
The Samsung Galaxy S Aviator measures 2.7 inches wide, 5.1 inches high and 0.46 inch thick. Its additional girth feels good when gripped, particularly for bigger hands. The power button is situated on the right hand side of the device, while the volume rocker on the left. Its connections include 3.5mm headphone jack and HDMI port for connecting to monitors and high definition televisions. Above the display, you will find a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera that’s lower unlike the Galaxy S II. The eight-megapixel rear facing camera with LED flash is at the back and removing the thin cover unveils the LTE SIM card and 16GB microSD memory card slot.
The Samsung Galaxy S Aviator provides a typical Android experience with 7 home screens that can populate with app shortcuts and widgets to heart’s content. Some helpful apps of Samsung include weather widget, YouTube and Yahoo News. Google apps are Gmail, YouTube, Navigation, Talk and Play Books. Useful 3rd party applications include Audible audio book software, Kindle and Amazon MP3. Like other Galaxy smartphones, the company overlays its TouchWiz interface on top of stock Android. Besides weather app propelled by Media Hub store and AccuWeather that sells TV show and Movie rentals, we couldn’t find other flashier TouchWiz functions typically installed on Galaxy S II. These include Live Panel Widgets that increase functionality depending on their size, or zooming in and out of documents and images by tilting the handset while touching the display with both thumbs.
