Sony Walkmans Overpower The iPod In Japanese Market
News — on September 4, 2009 at 5:05 am | 2 CommentsAccording to Japanese research company BCN, the walkman has outsold the dominating iPod for the first time in four years. Sony tasted victory pure through the sales volume and number of music players.
Sony recorded sales figures of 43 percent towards the end of August 30, beating apple by a whisker, who recorded 42.1 percent. The survey did not include the sales of the iPhone because of the obvious reasons of it serving as a cell-phone.
Sony grabbed six of the top 10 sales spots with the different models of its Walkman. While, Apple took home the remaining three slots with its 16GB iPod Nano, iPod Classic, and iPod Shuffle. The 8GB iPod Nano also topped the sales charts with a 21.7 percent of the market share, while Sony’s mini NW-E042 Walkman came in a distant second with just a 6.2 market share.

Apple has announced a new line of models to be unveiled on September 9th, while Sony’s assorted line of walkmans has picked very favorable reviews.
Both Apple and Sony are gearing up for a very heated battle this September and we’ll have to wait and watch.
