The New York Times website seem to be having a tough time trying to rid themselves of an unauthorized advertisement,  due to which  the functionality of the website has been compromised. The unknown wild advertisement, whose origins are still mysterious, warns the users that their computers would be infected with a virus and redirects to a site that offers anti-virus software. Some users have reported that a pop-up box appears warning them about a virus and redirecting them to a site that claims to offer the antivirus software. In a statement NYTimes said, “We believe this was generated by an unauthorized advertisement and are working to prevent the problem from recurring.
