Apple Moves to Sharp for LCD Panels

Apple Inc. is adding Sharp Corporation as a manufacturing company of displays used in next generation iPad, people familiar with situation said Thursday as United States consumer electronics firm moves for diversifying component suppliers for its products. One of the people well-known with the matter stated that the next generation iPad of Apple will be introduced in the year 2012, while the Kameyama facility of Sharp in Central Japan will produce LCD screens for iPad. The person also stated that the company will be investing in the panel manufacturing facilities of Sharp in Japan, without identifying the amount, highlighting company’s plans to work with plenty of component manufacturers for ensuring that it can secure enough components for making its famous iPads and iPhones. For a lot of people, the first Apple iPad was already a great device but the manufacturer did have some things to tweak here. The screen resolution hasn’t improved and there isn’t the Thunderbolt ultra speed connector either. But the design of the chassis has changed, it is now lighter and thinner as compared to the predecessor and it is more powerful too. There is Apple A5 SOC 1 GHz dual core processor which makes sure that things don’t slow down anytime. Also, the faster processor doesn’t come at the cost of lower battery life. The battery life is the same as the original device and the manufacturer is not charging a higher price for the iPad 2. The cost is the same for the three different memory versions. Apple says they are investigating the the 3G issue of Verizon’s iPad 2

Apple says that they are looking in to an issue which requires some iPad 2 having Verizon’s 3G network to restart the tablet for enable the 3G after turning it off. A few days ago, Apple acknowledged the issue and said they did admit the fact that Verizon’s iPad had issues regarding connectivity. They also assured that the company is doing everything it can to solve the problem. Also, the tablet manufacturer said that the number of people who are affected by this problem are ‘small’. Complaints have begun to mount at Apple Support Discusions board after the gadget was released in the stores.
