The dell ships the 10v with Ubuntu 8.04, but I would suggest that an upgrade to the 9.04 would prove to be more efficient. Upgrading to 9.04 also frees up more of the SDD for data storage – my machine had 2.6GB available when running 8.04, but 4.6GB following the Jaunty install. The onepiece trackpad is something new added too the dell line up of netbooks with a highly tactile surface which is pleasant to use over long periods. It is loaded with a 1.3MP webcam with the help of which you can directly click and upload the photos on photobucket, though the photos and the video are quite coarse and of low quality . The integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics core struggled with hi-def H.264 files, it managed to play a 1080i .AVI file at full screen in VLC without any problems. Dell Inc. announced on Thursday, that the company recorded a net income of $290 millions for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2010, and earning of 24 cents per share or15 cents per share when accounting for write downs from severance pay and factory closings during the quarter, in comparison to $784 million, and 38 cents per share for the same period the previous year. This portrayed a sharp decline of 63 percent as the recession continued to crimp computer sales around the world. Revenues were also down 23 percent to $12.3 billion. Analyst Analysts were expecting earnings of 22 cents a share on revenue of $12.6 billion.
