Review Of Gateway NV7802u Laptop
Laptops — November 18, 2009 at 8:15 am | Comment NowThis is the second Gateway product to land in our test center after the Gateway NV5207u. The major difference between the two is screen size. Gateway NV5207u was a 15.6 inch screen size and this one is 17.3 inch. A screen of this big size means that you will have to struggle to carry and hence we would term this as a desktop replacement rather than a portable computer.
The display of the computer is crisp 17.3 inch, 16:9 aspect ratio which is good for work and games/video watching. This display will give you a native resolution of 1,600x900 which is what a 17.3 inch screen should deliver. The picture quality is not so good if you are watching it with someone else, sitting on the sides. There is loss of contrast and saturation if you are watching from the sides. But still we feel that it is good display.
The battery of the computer is quite impressive and has enough juice to last for [...]
Review Of Gateway NV5207u Laptop
Laptops — November 17, 2009 at 3:30 am | Comment NowGateway NV5207u is powered by a slow processor. We were disappointed to see this because our first impression was that this is was a sexy and power full beast. A slower processor will be intimidated by the newer soft wares which require fast speeds and will be shy for high end games. The processor will be brought down to heels when you are working on graphics or alike. The computer runs slower even by the standards of AMD Athlon 64 X2 (2.1 GHz) and the slower processor doesn’t contribute to extending the battery life.
The screen of this notebook is 15.6 inch big which gives you aspect ratio of 16:9. It gives you resolution of 1,366x768 pixels which is quite good and watching movies/videos on this screen is pleasure. Inclusion of ATI Radeon HD 3200 adds to the quality of the videos. Above the screen is microphone and webcam which doesn’t disappoint and will deliver according to [...]
Review Of The Gateway LT3103u Laptop
Laptops — September 5, 2009 at 10:30 pm | 3 CommentsUnlike most of the notebooks which use the Intel Atom processor, gateway uses an AMD athlon 64 L110 Single-Core Processor which I found out to be more efficient compared to the Atom. Well, it’s not as fast as the ULV system but it could give the Atom a run for its money anyday.
Also it comes accompanied with the Windows Vista as compared to the Windows XP version which most of the notebooks use and along comes the same sluggishness of the Vista. I tried comparing its boot time with most of the other notebooks and it took almost 30 secs more which was kind of disappointing but then who said that the Vista was fast.
The stereo speakers on the LT3103u provide adequately loud sound for a netbook. While bass was lacking and higher tones are somewhat tinny, the midrange vocals on Weezer’s “Island in the Sun” came through well. Since the speakers are mounted on the underside of the [...]

This is a portable way to surf the web. Although the battery life could be a little longer, but this model has the option of power management to help extend the amount of time the AC battery will last when the notebook is running on the battery.
The Gateway UC7807U features a 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and 3072 MB DDR II SDRAM giving it the speed to do all of the computer user’s tasks while on the Internet and off for multi tasking or videos and other media.
This is a laptop that is easy to travel with at a weight of about 6 pounds and in the price range of under $1,000, and a 13-inch wide screen. The Gateway UC7807U is able to handle the everyday jobs and also a good [...]
