The USB Implementers Forum has stated that it is making the USB 3.0 (Super-speed) Compliance and Certification program available today. And we can expect to see some of the devices using the USB 3.0 later this year. The revelation will allow vendors to achieve certification and the ability to display the Super-speed USB logo for testing and to ensure the products comply with the specs. USB 3.0 is expected to transfer data 10 times faster than that of the Hi Speed USB and also improve power efficiency.

The spec was developed by the USB Promoter Group, which consists of Intel, HP, Microsoft, NEC, ST Ericsson and Texas Instruments. According to a USB 3.0 representative, deployment was to begin in 2010 but as of now, that seems highly unlikely. Market analysts from In-Stat expect the USB 3.0 to capture 30% of the market.
