Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 Laptop Review
Laptops — on November 16, 2009 at 1:00 am | Comment NowThis Toshiba product is aimed at people who need a laptop to work or students for college projects. But this laptop doesn’t have juice for high end games or high end graphics applications. Good for music also.
Sum and Substance:
Thumbs Up:
Great sound, Superb battery life.
Thumbs Down:
Heavy, No Bluetooth, Glossy Keyboard.
Inside the Trunk:
Power cables, Softwares.

Razzle Dazzle:
The Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 is a pretty looking laptop. It has got elevation at the back of it, for ergonomics. The keyboard is a little glossy, so you will have to clean it all the time or else you will end up getting fingerprints on it.
Inside Dope:
The display supports HDMI, so you can plug this device on to your panels and enjoy movies on a big screen. The display is 16 inch offers a native resolution 1366X768 which is good enough and gives you plenty of room to work on the screen. The resolutions let you tile 2 word documents along each other and work comfortably with them. Videos look great on this monitor and are well complimented by the good speakers.

Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 comes bundled along with Windows 7 Home Premium. Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is pre-installed.
The speakers are Harman Kardon speakers and it sounds great. The laptop doesn’t have a graphic card installed in it, so you can’t play high-end games on this notebook. However, you can play basic games.
We weren’t much happy with the keyboard. It was one of the worst part of the notebook. The keys are flat and placed close to each other. You may find it difficult to type on this laptop or it will at least take a while to get used to it.
The power consumption of this notebook is much lesser than laptops like HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx or Gateway NV5207u but this one consumes more power than Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975.
The battery is a little bigger than the other standard laptops. You get a 12 cell battery instead of 6 cell ones. This doubles the laptop battery life and the rated usage time is little over six hours which is great. Remember that this laptop doesn’t have a flash based hard drive.
Nitty Gritty:
Toshiba’s latest offering is quite good and makes it point against other rivals in the market. For the price it is offered, it is good value for money. The only issue is the glossy body which leaves fingerprints on it. So if you are a cleanliness freak think twice about buying this product.
