TV Antenna GeoSelector – A must for the getting the best TV signal
Software — on September 7, 2010 at 7:49 am | 1 CommentGetting a good signal is really important if you want to get the best out of your TV. Browsing through the jungles of Internet, I came across something that helped me a lot in getting crystal clear picture quality on my brand new Samsung 3D TV. I am talking about TV Antenna GeoSelector; it is a tool which displays all TV stations that are available in your area and then generates TV antenna recommendation using an algorithm considering your area, power and frequency of TV stations, directions of the TV antenna and gain.
To get started, just type antenna geoselector in the Google search box and click on the first link that you get in the results section. Select your state from the drop down box and then type the name of your city. There is another drop down box on the right side for selecting from a list of cities. Search can also be done through postal code or address. Once you have entered all the details, click on show TV map.

The map will show you all the VHF and UHF TV channels. On the map’s right, there are a list of channels available. Click on the network or the channels on the right and you will get more details like distance and network name. There is also a separate feature which determines where the TV antenna is to be aimed for the best signal reception. You will have to point the TV antenna to the direction of the TV station in order to get crystal clear signal. This is called the azimuth.
If the TV station is exactly to the north of your location, then the azimuth is zero degrees. For the east, it is 90 degrees; for south, it is 180 degrees and so forth. Knowing the azimuth is important as you get good TV signal when you point the TV antenna towards to TV station. Below this map, you will find a list of all the channels available in your area along with the details. Scroll down a bit to get to the recommendation section. The tool will then advice you on which antennas to use. You will get all the possible networks and stations in your area here.
If you don’t want a particular section then it can be unchecked. Thus, you get plenty of filters to narrow down your choice. I would recommend you to pay heed to the suggestions that are put in front of you since the tool is made by experts. You can also leave a reception report which will help others make a decision based on your experiences. Visit the Website if you need any details and make sure you use this tool to get the best signal on your TV.
